The Packing Nomad
Hello there,
Welcome to my blog! Seeing as this is my first post I’ll give you a little bit of info as to why I’ve named this blog, The Packing Nomad.
First, I’d like to say that we actually currently live in an apartment, I’m in college, daughter is in school, partner works. You know… the “American Dream” Just trying to live the daily doing what most families do… school, work, sleep, pay bills, repeat. This is our Mon-Fri like most families.
Next, is the good stuff…. Now, weekends? Weekends are our JAM. We can’t sit still. We take on a spontaneous adventure just about Every. Single. Weekend. At first, I was a little Leary about road tripping due to me having a little blue Prius. But this “old lady” did it. Our first real adventure, my 10 year old had this bright idea to go to the beach the night before (Literally at 8pm) our day trip. My partner agreed and for a moment I just stared at the ceiling like “Hmmm, it’s too late for a hotel or we will pay top dollar” Sat there for several minutes in my head while in the background all I hear is “Yes!! Let’s Do It” “We only live once” “We can night fish on the pier & then wake up to the sun rise” “Please, Mom, I won’t complain” I said, “Where will we sleep?” They replied, “The car!!!” “YOLO”
So, that’s what we did. We packed up The Little Blue Prius, left home at about 9pm and got to the Vilano Beach Pier around 10:45pm. There we all went, 2 adults, 1 kid & 1 Large dog plus some fishing poles, a cooler and other things we needed/wanted for the adventure. That was a few months ago, ever since we’ve had many more trips like it. I have to say, even at 34 years young, it was a wonderful “you only live once” experience. It’s really opened my eyes as well, there’s so much more to life, then just working towards “retirement” why not live NOW? In the moment while we are still young enough to do so.
Seriously considering the full time RV living lifestyle.
